SOME Tinder fans have been intrigued by new green dots appearing next to profile names on the hugely popular dating app.
But what do the little green dots mean? And how can you turn them off?
With their new feature ‘Recently Active’, Tinder lets you get a sneak peak at potential matches who have already liked you.
As you swipe, any keen dater that’s liked your profile and has been online in the last 24 hours will have a little green dot next to their name.
The feature is fully unlocked in Tinder’s Gold or Platinum paid settings.
If users don’t subscribe, they will be able to see the green dot, but the profile picture of the person who likes them will be blurred.
Tinder Gold and Platinum are paid subscriptions for the dating app.
Tinder Gold gets you access to more features in the app.
With Gold, you can see who likes you before you swipe left or right, receive new top picks every day, get unlimited profile likes and more.
Tinder Platinum gets you everything included in Tinder Gold as well as the chance to message potential dates before matching, have your likes prioritised above other people’s, see who’s liked you in the last week, along with other perks.
If you have the Tinder app on your phone and want to sign up to Tinder Gold or Platinum, simply open the app, go to your profile icon and tap on settings.
From there, you will find the “Get Tinder Gold” or “Get Tinder Platinum” options.
Once you’ve signed up, the first subscription charge will be taken out of your account within 24 hours.
For match seekers who’d rather keep things mysterious, you can choose to turn off the green dot by going into the app’s settings.
If you open Tinder and tap the profile icon and go to settings there is a button called ‘Recent Activity Status’ that manages the green dot.
You can turn it off by tapping this button and setting the “Show Activity Status” toggle to OFF.
