Camp’s first wife was Melissa Lynn Henning. He first saw her in 1999 while they were at a bible study. When he was leading worship at the Bible Study he said;
“I looked up [while playing] at one point, and there she was, just raising up her hands, just singing, like, abandon. ‘No one else is around me. I don’t care who’s around me. It’s me and Jesus right now.’ And that’s what kind of attracted me to her … she has a relationship with Jesus. And that kind of was the start of me going, ‘Okay, who is this girl?’
Their bond grew stronger as they began fellowshipping together. They began dating and as in other normal relationships, they had challenges and broke up. They reunited when Camp found out Melissa was sick and in the hospital. She had ovarian cancer and knew that she had a few months to live. They got married in a beautiful wedding on 21st October 2000. Melissa, unfortunately, died on 5th February 2001 when she was 21 years old.

I Still Believe is an American Christian movie based on the real life of Jeremy Camp and his first wife Melissa Lynn Henning-Camp. Melissa was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and died three months after their wedding. KJ Apa played the role of Jeremy while Britt Robertson played the role of Melissa. The movie was released on ArcLight Hollywood on March 7th, 2020, and theatrically on 13th March 2020. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the film was released to video on demand on March 27th, 2020.
