California surferChad Wells snaps heart-shaped wave
It's an image any surfer is bound to fall in love with.
Chad Wells, 45, captured the moment a wave formed an entrancing heart-shape as it broke and wrapped him in an embrace while he trained on Seal beach in California, earlier this year.
Despite being totally immersed in the ocean, Chad managed to capture the miraculous moment on camera as it unfolded on the sea's surface.
Chad said: 'I like this photo because of the unique heart shape. It was a special wave, and every shot in the three I shot on this wave were keepers.'
The surfer took up the sport after developing a knee injury. He is now the team manager for Quiksilver Surf, and works with athletes in the US - while taking stunning sea images.
'It was a special wave considering I took all three shots and all three were awesome,' Chad added. 'The heart was the first of the three.'
