Internet Obsessed With Dalmatian Who Never Lost His 'Silky' Puppy Fur

Puppies are often described as fluffy or fuzzy with delicate baby fur. But this extra soft fur does not last forever as their adult coats will grow in with time.

The shedding of puppy fur happens at different stages depending on the dog. Some might start shedding the baby coat as young as 12 weeks. Other dogs could be nearly a year before the shedding begins, according to Daily Puppy.

But some dogs, like humans, might rock their baby fur well into adulthood. That's what happened with a dalmatian known on TikTok as @oogietheboogie05.

The January 5 TikTok video, which quickly reached over 9.9 million views, 1.9 million likes, and 1,724 comments, starts off with a clip of a dalmatian puppy. His tiny furs are covering his body and sticking up on his ears. Turns out that precious look never went away as the second clip shows what the dog looks like now.

The caption reads: "I love my smokey and his gorgeous silky long fur."

The baby hairs still surround this dalmatian's face. Some of the ones on his ears are longer than the ear itself. It'll keep him looking younger for years to come, something every human longs for.

The puppy fur was there to stay and never fell off but viewers don't seem to mind. In fact, they are obsessed.

"I would snuggle them sooooo hard!" wrote TikTok user @bobbifalde867.

Viewer @misslizgreen added: "MI bet he is so so soft."

And if the long hair wasn't enough, his heart-shaped nose has put people over the edge.

Newsweek reached out via TikTok for additional information.

Dalmatians are already a rare breed to come by, but long-haired dalmatians are even more rare. The two are nearly identical. The difference, of course, is the long hair. This is caused by a recessive but naturally occurring gene. This gene, known as the "LC gene" for "long coat", is not known to cause any physical or cognitive differences or health issues. Owners might expect extra brushing.

Regular grooming is important for all dogs not just in their adult age, but as they shed off the baby fur. Puppy owners should spend at least 15 minutes a day brushing out their fur baby. This will help the shedding puppy from getting raggedy.

The type of brush needed will depend on a dog's coat. Use a slicker brush on long-coated puppies and a rubber comb on short-haired pups. Be sure to also clean the brush frequently. An occasional bath, no more than once or twice a month, will help keep a dog's fur looking clean and healthy. Any more than that might leave your dog with itchy and dry skin.
