Dog rescued from Bettendorf blaze

A dog was rescued from a fire Friday on Oak Park Drive in Bettendorf, according to a news release.

Bettendorf Firefighters responded to a structure fire shortly before 2:30 p.m. Friday. Crews saw heavy fire coming from the back side of the home, and quickly extinguished the fire on the outside of the home.

Firefighters simultaneously extinguished the fire that burned through the exterior walls and into the attic.

Fire crews performed interior searches throughout all levels of the home. The residents were not
home at the time of the incident.

A dog was rescued from the home by fire personnel and assistance from a neighbor.

“Currently the home is uninhabitable due to heavy fire and smoke damage and disconnected utilities,” the release says. “No injuries have been reported and the fire is still under
investigation at this time.”

Mutual aid response included Davenport Fire Department, Rock Island Arsenal Fire Department, and Medic EMS of Scott County. MidAmerican Energy was notified.
